10 At-Home Date Ideas to Keep You Excited

Looking for fun, interesting, and unique date ideas? Look no further than some of the top destinations right in your own home. Here’s a list of some at-home date idea to get you started.

1.movie night

It’s easy, it’s cheap (especially if you already have Netflix), and it can be pretty dang romantic. Plus, you can always pause the movie if things get hot and heavy.

2. Board Games

Make a list of your favorite board games, break out the Monopoly, and play away! Even better, host a board game night with a few other couples. You can make it a potluck dinner or have everyone bring their own snacks.

3.Picnic

Who says you have to go outside for a picnic? Grab some sandwiches, chips and fruit (you can even make it fancy if you want), put it all in a basket and enjoy each others company while your eating. Don’t forget the wine!

4.Play Some Music

You’ll learn about each other’s tastes, and it can make for a very romantic evening.

Have one person pick a genre, then take turns playing songs in that genre that you love. Pick songs you think the other person will love too.

5. Karaoke Night

Just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean you can’t be social. Invite a few of your favorite couples over for some food, drinks, and good old-fashioned karaoke. You can even switch partners and duet.

6.Get Couple’s Massages

It’s a fancy night out without breaking the bank. You can go to a spa and get a massage together, or take turns at home giving each other back rubs.

7.Have a Spa Night at Home

You don’t need to go to a fancy spa to relax and get pampered on a date. Set up your own relaxing spa at home!

8.Wine & Design

Let’s face it, no one really wants to go to a paint night at some art studio. But if you bring the fun home, it could be the perfect date. Buy some canvases, paints and wine online, and make your own masterpiece together. You can do this as many times as you want until you get a painting that you actually like.

9.Take Online Dance Lessons

Sign up for an introductory salsa or ballroom dancing class to learn some new moves together.

10.Enjoy a Romantic Meal Together

Stay home and cook something special that you both enjoy. Put on your fancy clothes so you feel like you’re going out, even though you’re staying in. Create an elegant atmosphere by setting your table with a nice tablecloth and cloth napkins. Play some soft music while you eat, and make sure to dim the lights and light a few candles.

11. Set the Scene

First, get into the mood with some candles and music. Make it special by picking up some fresh flowers and arranging them in your favorite vase. If you want to go all out, pick up some rose petals and sprinkle them on the floors of your bedroom or living room.

12.Book Club Date

One of my favorite dates is the book club date. We have a huge pile of books that we haven’t read yet so we always pick one and spend the evening reading it together. You can even make it a little competitive by seeing who can finish first!

13. Paint Your Own Pottery Date Night

Pick out some pieces of pottery at your local craft store then paint away! This is a great way to find out if you have any artistic talent together. Plus, you’ll have something special to look back on years later!

14.Trivia Night Date

We had an at-home trivia night (with questions from the Trivial Pursuit game) and it was a lot of fun!

We made a point of inviting some other couples to participate, so we had a two team vs. two team trivia match. We also invited some single friends to come over, so if the couples got tired, they could switch out for singles to keep the teams even.

15.Use a meal delivery kit.

Have at least one meal that you share with your partner where you cook it together. It’s a great way to get to know each other even better, and if you’re the kind of couple who loves talking about food, it’s a conversation starter unlike any other. Plus, when you’re cooking together in the comfort of your own home, it doesn’t matter if you are total beginners or if one of you has a Michelin star.

16.Design a T-shirt for each other.

One of my favorite things to do with my husband is make T-shirts for each other. We’ll pick a theme (like our favorite movies or vacation spots) and draw out the design on a plain white T-shirt. Then we take turns coloring them in, making sure to keep it a surprise until the very end! I love seeing what he comes up with and his reaction when he sees my design. The best part is always being able to wear them afterward!

17. Reenact your first date

Was it over coffee? Dinner? The movies? Whatever it was, try to recreate it as closely as possible. If you’ve been together for a while now, chances are good that your tastes and habits have changed since then — so much so that when you do rehash old memories, you might find yourselves laughing at how different you were back then.
