Valentine’s Day is almost here! I have always enjoyed planning the perfect date, whether it’s for my boyfriend or one of my friends. It can be hard finding something that everyone can enjoy. Below are some unique Valentine’s Day date ideas to help you make this year’s holiday extra special.
1.Go to a Paint Night
Paint nights are popping up everywhere. In addition to being fun, paint nights can be romantic because couples will be sitting close together for several hours. Plus, you both get to take home artwork that you can hang in the house. You can find paint nights online and see if there are any in your area. If not, some art supply stores also offer classes and workshops where you can show off your artistic side.
2. Fancy dinner at home
Get away from the crowds and cook up something special at home. Whether you’re making a meal from scratch or ordering in, treat yourself to a fancy dinner date with all the trimmings: candles, flowers and music.
3. Attend a concert
Nothing beats seeing your favorite artist live — except maybe seeing them live on Valentine’s Day! If you can’t find any concerts happening near you, host your own concert at home and play all of your favorites while dancing around the house.
4.Museum visit.
Whether you’re interested in art, science, history or something else entirely, there’s likely to be a museum nearby that covers your chosen topic in depth. The great thing about museums is that they’re quiet — there’s no need to worry about finding something to talk about with your date because there will always be something interesting nearby that you can discuss instead!
5. Try a cooking class
There are many different types of cooking classes. Some focus on one specific cuisine or type of food (e.g., sushi), while others might cover a range of topics in a single class. Cooking classes can also vary in length — some last for several hours and may even include an overnight stay at a hotel if alcohol is involved. Try asking your date what type of food or cooking style they prefer as a starting point for choosing a class.
6. Take a dance lesson
Try something new and head out to the dance floor to learn some new moves. Whether you know how to dance or not, taking a dance lesson is super fun! You and your partner can learn how to do the salsa, swing, tango or even hip-hop together.
7. Go bowling
Bowling alleys have always been a great place to hang out and have fun with friends, so naturally they make for a perfect date spot as well. You can talk and get to know one another while having some light-hearted competition (and if you suck at bowling it’s an excuse to get close while trying to help each other).
8. Dinner cruise:
If you live in a city by water, consider taking a dinner cruise for Valentine’s Day. The view of the city lights at night is romantic in and of itself, but you’ll also get to enjoy some good food and company. Check with Groupon for local deals on dinner cruises.
9. Go shopping together.
Valentine’s Day is all about spending time with someone you love, but it’s also an opportunity to get some new stuff. Whether you’re buying each other presents or going shopping together just for fun, getting out of the house can be fun.
10.Netflix and chill
There’s a reason why Netflix and chill is a popular pastime for couples. It’s so easy, so simple, and so effective. The best part about it? You can do it from the comfort of your own home. And if you’re looking to make it a little more special this year, order takeout from one of your favorite restaurants and set up a romantic picnic in front of the TV with your favorite snacks.
11. Host a wine tasting
The perks: You don’t have to worry about dealing with other people, or making reservations, or risking getting stuck in traffic on your way home from dinner — which is probably why so many couples prefer to stay in on Valentine’s Day rather than going out for dinner or a movie.
12. Have a spa day together.
Give each other a massage, try out some DIY spa treatments (face masks, anyone?) or book in-home massages from an Airbnb host. You can end the evening with a warm bath and lots of bubbles!
13.Go for a hike
How about going for a walk in nature? Many trails are just as beautiful during winter as they are during spring or summer, but with far fewer people around. So grab some hot cocoa, lace up your hiking boots (and don’t forget your camera!), and enjoy each other’s company while taking in some gorgeous views.
This is a good thing to keep in mind if you and your significant other don’t have a Valentine’s date planned. And more often than not, I have found that this works quite well on even the most hectic of days. The relaxed atmosphere allows for you both to unwind and recharge, which is ideal for the beginning of a romantic relationship. And who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to incorporate any number of these date ideas in the future!
